This home is located in Rockridge, a vibrant residential neighborhood and retail and commercial district in Oakland. The district was created around the 1920's as a mainly Protestant enclave. The area was in decline in the 1970's but saw a resurgence due to business investment and gained in popularity as Oakland became a central hub to a growing Bay Area.

The Rockridge Branch of the Oakland Public Library is one of the most visited establishments of the neighborhood and is home to an extensive collection of children's books and audio/visual materials. The local elementary, middle and high school are all highly regarded and the College Preparatory School, a short distance from the Keith Avenue home, is the pre-eminant high school in Northern California. It competes with Harvard Westlake as the top secondary school on the West Coast.
